Drink wine: it isn’t good to keep things bottled up.
This winter, Liverpool will see the launch of the first annual Liverpool Independent Wine Festival taking place in the Baltic Warehouse, New Bird Street, bringing the best restaurants, bars and wine suppliers from the city under one roof. You had us at wine.

On the 9th and 10th November, guests will be able to try wines from around the world, including natural and vegan wines, alongside live music, delicious food and talks from industry leaders sharing their knowledge of the wine industry. Expect stalls from City Wine Bar, R& H Fine Wines, Bitter Social, Buyer’s Club, Queen’s Bistro, Petit Cafe Du Coin and Maray. How about that for a hefty collection of heavy hitters in the vino world.

The festival will work on a token-basis, with each stall showcasing their best picks. Guests will be able to purchase tokens on arrival to exchange for 75ml samples of wine ‘priced’ from one token to three. There will be 15-minute talks throughout Saturday and Sunday afternoon, with the chance to learn something new or refresh people’s knowledge. Music will be provided by Alan Cross, Speakeasy Bootleg Band, and live DJs in the evening.

With each ticket purchase guests will receive two extra tokens, as well as free gifts on arrival at the Baltic Warehouse. There will be a shop on site, run by Liverpool’s greatest wine merchants, for eventgoers to buy the bottles they enjoyed during the day. Or to swig on the walk home. Which ever takes your fancy.

Festival organiser Jacob Hickey said, “The Liverpool wine scene has been on the rise for a couple of years, as has our independent bar scene. To marry these under one roof has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I’m excited to work alongside the businesses involved. As a local bar manager, I’m passionate about showing our guests where in our city they can drink their new favourite wines, as well as injecting even more fun into our local drinks scene.”
Tickets are priced at £14 per person and are available through Skiddle:
