 Wavetree Town Hall

We recently had the pleasure of meeting Lisa Dixon and business partner Natalie Doughty, owners and renowned hospitality figures here in Liverpool, to have a chat about their beautiful venue, Wavetree Town Hall!

Natalie and Lisa, the former General Managers of Neon Jamon and Gusto Albert Dock respectively have years of experience behind them after running these hugely successful venues. Using this experience, they put their heads together to create a hub right in the middle of Wavertree high street. This highly-experienced duo have combined all their knowledge to create a sweeping bar, huge restaurant and a large second floor event space for the people of Wavertree and beyond.

It all began after a long friendship and talks of opening a small café? maybe even a bar? How about a restaurant?! Then driving past the forgotten Wavertree Town Hall and immediately knowing, ‘That’s the place’! Work began in January 2020 when unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic caused massive delays, but that didn’t stop them. They have worked tirelessly to fully refurbish the Town hall from cellar to roof, into this beautiful and inviting place to meet for food and drinks.

The external appearance of this Listed Building looks crisp and inviting with all the grand charm and class of a Town Hall. Inside the original features have been brought to life with sumptuous colours, mood lighting, and beautiful period features with carefully reconstructed tiles and fireplaces

The Grade 2 listed building has had multiple owners since the 1970’s, but is now thankfully in the capable hands of these two women. With over fifty years of combined experience in some of the UK’s leading hospitality groups, both Lisa and Natalie know the industry inside & out and will easily make this a hot spot for years to come!

The restaurant menu has been created by the former executive chef of Neon Jamon and Wavertree local Mick Navarro, with the focus on small plates, big Sunday roasts and tasty afternoon teas.

.

While we were there, a guest gushed about the food, atmosphere and what was most important to them, the very attentive staff. It felt like we were eves dropping on a live review.

The venue first and foremost is a restaurant and bar. There are two dining areas on the ground floor one with the capacity for 40 covers and is used as their day-to-day restaurant while the second space to the rear of the building which is a larger area has the capacity for 80 to 90 covers, perfect for huge family dinners, birthday parties or maybe just reunions with old friends

Upstairs there is a large function space which is flooded with light from grand windows and sparkling chandeliers. It has the capacity for 100 guests, think weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, christenings and corporate parties, this is the spot!
