A place to satisfy your sweet tooth without losing some along the way.

Natalie Shilton has been interested in fitness and nutrition since the age of 17. A sentence we wish either of us could say. She’s completely self-taught and wanted to fix the problem of never being able to find a healthy dessert. Those two words are often viewed as oxymoronic. Like all good ideas they start to fix a problem and often family members and loved ones are the case study and get the first design. Natalie’s family loved every bite and the rest, you could say, was history…

Some years later, in a twist of fate, Natalie was walking down the old Petticoat Lane on Bold Street and stumbled across a shop moving out and enquired about the building. A few months later she was inside stocked with her refined sugar free, gluten free and artificial ingredients/sweetener free treats. A jewel in the crown of Bold Street’s foodie kingdom offering people a slice of happiness without the pending guilt to match. What started off as a hobby was now bricks and mortar and an army of loyal followers queued patiently out the door most days.

After Petticoat Lane sadly got brought down Nat was left without a venue until some months later a spot on Berry Street came available. With many licks of colourful paint from Jazz Stan and hours spent in the kitchen later, The Nakery was born and offered Berry Street goers a different experience. They’re in good company – neighbours consist of brilliant Parisian cocktail bars, natural wine bars, Vietnamese restaurants and more. Not content on just doing no bake cheesecakes, cake jars, dream bars, nice cream pops and more – they also have a smoothie and juice bar.

One bite of The Nakery and you’ll not be able to fathom things can taste that good without any of the nasty sugar spike and post-treat nap we’ve perfected over the years. It’s just clean, raw and beautiful looking treats that are so pretty you won’t know whether to eat them or get your picture taken with them. You’ll struggle to find anyone that comes close to the talent of Natalie and her team and she truly embodies what Independent Liverpool is all about. Next time you fancy being naughty head to The Nakery on Berry Street and tell them we sent you.
