One of the most famous streets in literally the entire world – surely there’s a good watering hole? Well, you’d be right.
From Liverpool or moved to study in Liverpool? Chances are you’ve spent a night at Penny Lane Wine Bar. Cramped to the rafters with an electric atmosphere and steamy windows like a scene out of Titanic. No-one can see in, no-one can see out. Quiz nights, Christmas Eve, the match or even a day of the week – Penny Lane Wine Bar is always a good idea.
Despite the name, the bar itself couldn’t be less of a touristy-y focused spot. You’ll find no Beatles Burgers with a side of Onion Ringo’s, no veggie McCartney Full English or John Lennon latkes. Imagine. The food is super fresh non-pretentious stomach liners perfect for a drink or seven. Sunday roasts, hangover curers and good-honest gastro pub grub that won’t break the bank. Nachos, chicken teriyaki lollipops, fancy fish and chips, loaded steak fries with peppercorn sauce and more. They now open at 9am daily and are doing things like Nutella pancakes, eggs Benedict, smashed avocado on toasts.
Their lovely little backyard has taken on a whole life of itself due to the demand of outdoor hospitality and is a lovely little place to have a cocktail. Speaking of cocktails, we are delighted to announce Independent Liverpool members can get one of their signature cocktails for just £5 (usually £8). We’d love to say you can get this deal eight days a week but you’ll have to settle for seven.
