Bar Bodega, located on Colquitt Street, (which is the link between Bold Street and Seel Street) is inspired by all things Spanish. Not your usual English interpretation of Spanish either.
If this very establishment was to be on the boardwalk in Alicante it’d definitely be a favourite amongst the natives, not the sunburnt tourists wearing Union Jack polo’s a size too small. With a certain romantic ambience in the air, curious cocktails and a lively atmosphere, Bar Bodega ticks all the boxes and some more.
It was started by the same team as Tapas Tapas so you know it is going to be good. Up until late you’ll find one room serving delicious Tapas and in the other a team of experienced cocktail makers concocting potions that’ll leave you bewildered but always going back for more. What we personally love about Bar Bodega is how versatile it is. Go earlier on in the evening and you’ll find groups of friends huddled around the fire with a cocktail, head a bit later on and you’ll see the room filling with people having a few pre-drinks before they wander down the rest of Seel Street and enter there even later on and you’ll probably see us dancing on a table after one too many tequilas.
Both Managing Director and General Manager have spent many years working in bars in Spain, their love for the Mediterranean lifestyle seems to flawlessly rub off in all their doings. One look at the cocktail menu is likely to result in a lot of deliberating. Our personal favourite is ‘The Drumstick’, Bar Bodega’s alcoholic version of a childhood favourite. Not only will it take you down memory lane, it’ll get you drunk in the process. Warning, copious amounts of these will result in an involuntary siesta in the corner of the room and you’ll have a catalogue of tagged photos from your dear friends when you wake up in the morning.
The whole building is probably the perfect date, you can enjoy your civilised Tapas before walking just a few yards pas a cellar of rum for a few drinks by candlelight. Make sure you like them on Facebook: Bar Bodega, give them a follow on Twitter @BarBod3ga and visit their website http://www.bar-bodega.co.uk/. If you’re an Independent Liverpool cardholder and let’s face it, why wouldn’t you be, you get a generous 20% off drinks all night Sunday-Thursday. Drinking on a school night just got better.
