Brazilian Rodizio meets Neapolitan pizza on Castle Street in Liverpool.

The guys who brought you Salt Dog Slim’s, Santa Chupitos, Slim’s Pork Chop Express and more, now bring you ‘Santa Maluco’, a wood fired oven where the cocktails and pizza are made from scratch. There have been lots of quality pizza places open in Liverpool recently and it’s a damn good job you can never have too much pizza. We’re pretty sure there’s a separate organ for it. After successfully entering the restaurant world with Slim’s Pork Chop Express, they’re ready for another venture but instead of smoking meats they’re firing up pizzas and we just know it’s going to be good.

The guys behind the venues see the interior and experience as equally as important as the food and drink. Each place has its little idiosyncrasies, it’s own distinguishable vibe and a different reason to return. Santa Maluco is no different. Below they have revealed their very homage to the wonder of the world that is Christ the Redeemer. The Art Deco statue in Brazil has been given its own graffiti scribed twist and we can’t wait to see the rest of it. Castle Street already has some great independents and this is only going to add to making the street a destination and true foodie quarter.

Here’s what the chaps had to say:

“We will bring something unique to an end of town we have looked at for some time. We will be making pizzas from wood fired ovens and the bar will have a Santa Chupitos drinks element in regards to its feel and cocktails. Think great cocktails, 5 dollar shakes and lots of pizza. The Rodizio bit is the social way in which the food is served…waiters roaming the floor with pieces you can buy by the slice. The pizzas are 100% twenty inch Southern Italian, thin crust wood-fired beauties.”
