Bring the fire this Bank Holiday Sunday.
On Sunday 3rd of May there is a festival like no other. A Liverpool based collective of fire dancers, circus skills teachers and flow arts promoters present a truly different and unique event, the first of its kind, dedicated to the art of fire, that is Liverpool Fire Arts Festival 2015 WARPLiverpool.
There are events like this, first of the kind, events that people recall later when looking at photos and videos and say: “I wish I was there, I wish someone would have told me about it, if I’d have known I would have come”. That sums up this festival to its entirety. In the daytime, expect a multitude of workshops and performances that allow you to get involved. Just, maybe go easy with the fire if you fancy leaving with your eyebrows. There’ll be yoga, Thai Chi, juggling, giant bubbles, poi, drumming, aerial circus and just about everything out of the ordinary you can do in a warehouse.
In the evening is when things really start to heat up. 20 fire acts and 20 different stories through the visual effect of fire will keep you occupied for a couple of hours. Performers from Liverpool, Manchester and London will be coming down to showcase their skills and give you a few tips. All that fire art is thirsty and hungry work so luckily there’ll be real ale from the Baltic Fleet and grub from Alchemy Cafe, the new coffee shop adjacent to the warehouse.
We sat down with the owner behind Bring The Fire Project to find out his inspiration for the event, here is what he said:
“I have been in love with fire dancing for the last 8 years of my life. It has changed me and helped me answer the most important questions like who I am and who I want to become. I love to share this passion with others, experience how people become more self confident and more free and open. Fire is the creativity, the energy is something that unites us. I am sure it will be something different as Liverpool audiences will soon realise how beautiful and skilful fire performance can be if done by an artist who is truly dedicated to the art. We demonstrate artistic value, imagination and a story. We are going to present fire performance as never seen before in this city. It’s going to be pure magic.”
The event is happening on Sunday and there are still a few tickets left, go here to grab them here and we’ll see you there. It is great to see things like this happening in Liverpool so get behind it and support them. Join the group on Facebook here to keep up to date with acts and happenings.
