Lettuce all turnip to crown the best gardener in Merseyside.

If you didn’t see it recently, Liverpool Food and Drink Festival released that they were doing a brand new spring event. Still located in the stunning Sefton Park, the weekend commencing 5th of April is all about family filled activities and fun. The theme is about growing your own kitchen garden with plenty of vegetable planting demonstrations and masterclasses. The festival have teamed up with Whitakers Garden Centre in a search to find and crown the best amateur gardener in Merseyside. The winner will receive an essential gardening hamper, £50 voucher to spend at the garden centre, a free two-day family pass to the festival and a slot on their gardening masterclass. All you have to do is simple, either tweet your photo to @LivFoodDrink or email Leanne@skevents.co.uk your finest vegetable patch before 20th March and you could win. Whether you have an allotment, garden patch or a window box, they want entries from people all over Merseyside.

We spoke to Denise Harris, Managing Director of Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, in which she said:

“The competition is open to anyone with a passion for growing their own produce. We want people to dig out any photos of their beautiful allotments, vegetable patches, gardens and window boxes in full bloom so we can celebrate the dedication of our region’s amateur growers. We’re looking forward to seeing all the entries and hopefully inspiring even more people in the city, old and young, to start growing their own too.”
