In pizza we crust.

We’ll save you a Google – nonno translates to grandfather in Italian and grandfather in any language means respect and tradition. They aim to give the same respect and tradition you would to a family member with their wood-fired pizzas, classic cocktails, and Italian-inspired dishes. Located on busy, bustling, Bohemian Lark Lane, Nonno’s Pizza and Plates is perfect for a date night, catch-up and “we’re out for the night”. There is something for everyone, not just nonno.

With ingredients sourced from Italian suppliers, as well as a selection of Italian wines, local craft beers and artisanal spirits, good food and good drink are fundamentally the focus for the owners and operators, the Maranto family. The Marantos, and their namesake restaurant Maranto’s, staple of Lark Lane for over three decades. However, after fifteen years, they felt that it was time to change their previous venture Esteban Tapas. One bite of pizza – you’ll be happy they did.

It was an easy choice to stick with the Mediterranean feel, changing to a more Italian feel, a nod to the family’s Italian roots. While the pizza oven, in its own right, is mesmerising to look at, the high heat combined with the long-fermented dough that produces light and delicious pizzas in only a matter of minutes, make pizzas a tantalising choice. The asymmetry in the pizza is a sign of quality. There’s no perfectly spherical dough in site – these are made by hand, not machine.

There is also an array of small plates, perfect as a starter or sharing with the table. For bigger appetites, there are multiple main course dishes, along with an ever-changing specials menu. If you are planning a celebration, book a “Pizza and Prosecco Party” with a selection of starters, pizzas, and of course bubbles to share. Pizza and prosecco party, eh? Our two favourite things in the world colliding on one of our favourite streets in Liverpool.

Open weekdays from 4:00 and from 12:00 Saturday and Sunday. Pizzas are also available for take out and with late night drinks at the bar, and, weather permitting, the best patio on Lark Lane.
