For the whole month of October some of your favourite independent businesses will be offering some brilliant deals for just £10.
Candice Mulligan co-owner of Bean There Coffee Shop took inspiration from the idea from growing up in the Channel Islands where they hold The Tennerfest each year. A range of restaurants & pubs including Michelin starred restaurants offer meals from £10 around October and it was always a great boost to businesses where islanders enjoyed eating out in a month that can often feel a bit dull. She decided that it was an idea she could easily bring to the area but that could include all types of businesses alongside food and drink establishments. Many independents are really feeling the sting after a difficult six months and it is a good way to give thanks to our loyal customers for supporting us through this difficult time.
A great variety of businesses are involved offering a range of products and services such as; plants, with Chandlers Superstore selling many of their lovely plants for £10 and A Slower Space on Penny Lane who are putting together a gorgeous ‘plant starter kit’; Jennifer Green’s Allerton Health Centre is creating a lovely Autumn Self Care package, and many bars and restaurants in the area including East River, The Watering Can, Bloom Bar and Bistro, Evil Eye Burrito Bar, Belzan and of course Bean There Coffee Shop.
Adams Apple on Allerton road are putting together veg boxes and also working with ‘Food Sounds’ and a few other businesses in the area to create recipe boxes including the amazing idea to add sound tracks to play along whilst you are cooking! We also have Open Door, the most amazing charity shop taking part who will be offering a rail of two items for a tenner. The Tenner Festival isn’t just for independent business with shop fronts either – it also includes some local crafters such as Made By Me and Knotty Potty.
We caught up with Candice:
“I am so excited to see the enthusiasm for the idea and how many businesses are getting involved. There is a great sense of community which has grown through the pandemic and I am delighted to be able to reinforce this through the tenner festival and hopefully bring more people to the area.”
