Chickpea is Bold Street’s newest independent vegetarian cafe.

The basement of SOHO’S vintage clothes shop used to bee home to Dig Vinyl before their big move down the road to Resurrection. It was a place for vinyl heads to come together over their love of the floppy discs but it got a whole lot better thanks to Chickpea – the new cosy and contemporary veggie and vegan cafe. Chickpea is the creation of Liverpool heads Laura Tacey and Wesley Jackson who took the place on in its former shell state. They worked their own unique style of magic and now the space shows the signs of being special.

Keeping it wholesome, everything is made fresh with most produce sourced locally. Keeping it real, everything is affordable. A delicious and juicy curry with a coffee sees returns on a tenner. In today’s current climate – that’s pretty great. The Mediterranean lasagne is also a winner. If you’re sharing, we recommend a Chickpea mezze which is packed with goodness. For afters you’ll only regret not going for the homemade banana and coconut brownies, made with whole-grain flour. It’ll certainly put a spring in your trip. While their vegan lemon cake will satisfy all the senses and kick guilt out of the gut.

It’s no secret Bold Street has become the foodie quarter of the city. It’s well documented as the world on a plate where you can take your tastebuds on a tour to just about anywhere in the world. With the Bold Street buzz becomes an abundance of people. The street is electric and that’s why we love Chickpea’s presence all the more as it offers the perfect respite from the busyness just a floor above. When you’re next in town definitely check it out.
