Take me out, tonight…
Way back in 1993, Liverpool’s #1 Indie Rock’n’Roll Disco Party Liquidation set out to reclaim Saturday nights “in the name of trashy, soulless, elitist, quasi-sexual, hallucinogenic indie love action”. Mission accomplished.
They’ve been soundtracking the city’s Saturday nights now for 25 years. Their silver jubilee! Very few clubs have ever reached this landmark, and Liquidation has done it whilst staying true to its original ideals. A huge thanks to everyone that has partied with them over that time. It’s not over yet.
So they are celebrating in the only way they know. Throwing a big old party. The party is being held at their home for the last 4 years, EBGBs, on Saturday 17th November from 11pm til 4am. Which band sums up the indie disco more than any other? They gave this a lot of thought and realised that there is only one band that defines the scene more than any other. The Smiths. So they asked legendary Smiths drummer Mike Joyce to come down and DJ for all of us and he’s only gone and said yes.
An indie night, run by a fiercely independent promoter, in an independently owned venue. Can you tell why we love this story so much? Very kindly, the lovely lads at Liquidation have given us 100 early bird tickets available to Independent Liverpool followers via Skiddle with the password LIQ25. That means you can get a ticket for just £4.00 here.
Happy birthday, boys! Here’s to 25 years more…
