Yesterday would have been the 73rd Birthday of reggae legend, Bob Marley so it only feels fitting to announce the return of Liverpool’s very own reggae festival, Positive Vibration. All those years on and Bob Marley’s and others influence is still so powerful and the weekend-long festival has been honouring it since 2016. Positive Vibration has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s most exciting and eclectic reggae festivals, playing host to internationally renowned bands, legendary sound systems & selectors and some of the brightest new talent.
This year’s festival is no exception, with some absolute heavyweights already confirmed, including: Macka B & The Roots Ragga Band, Adrian Sherwood & Creation Rebel, Sister Nancy & Legal Shot Sound System, Iration Steppas with Murray Man, Misty in Roots, Don Letts, Channel One Sound System, Manudigital with Parly B & Bazil, Capital Letters, Radikal Guru with Echo Ranks & Cian Finn, Dubkasm with Solo Banton, and Count Skylarkin’ presents ‘Derek’s Island Discs’.
The festival also sees the return of The Art of Reggae Exhibition – a successful collaboration between Positive Vibration and the International Reggae Poster Contest. The exhibition, which supports the Alpha Boys School in Jamaica, will showcase 100 reggae-inspired posters, designed by illustrators & artists from over 70 countries. In addition to the music and art, the festival will also play host to a number of dance, craft, drum and poetry workshops for children & young people. Parents will be happy to know that children can attend the festival on both the Friday and Saturday, with those under the age of 12 going free.
