Set within a listed Georgian townhouse, take a look inside the boutique hotel Lock & Key.
Following the opening of Lock & Key Bar in Autumn 2017, the adjoining row of Georgian townhouses has been transformed into a luxurious 14-bedroom hotel under the same brand. The owners have restored and incorporated many of the building’s Grade II-listed period features, including ceiling mouldings, marble fireplaces and Georgian shopfront windows, working closely with local interior design firm House of Sloane to create a series of plush, playful spaces filled with bold patterns, jewel-like colours and sumptuous materials.
Varying in shape and size, the bedrooms have been individually designed by the Liverpool-based design duo, who have paired botanical wallpapers with deep anthracite woodwork and elegant brass accents to great effect. Bespoke velvet headboards, cocktail chairs and drinks trolleys evoke a whimsical mood, while thoughtful extras such as cocktail kits and handwritten city guides reflect the brand’s dedication to attentive and personalised service. Pocket doors open onto marble-clad wet rooms, which are small but perfectly formed with rainfall showers and full-sized toiletries.
The restful, hushed ambience upstairs is complimented by the speakeasy-style bar downstairs, which regularly hosts jazz nights and tasting events, where guests can escape for a post-prandial nightcap. Lock & Key starts with nightly rates from £65. Check the website here.
