More places to go, more things to see, May is shaping up to be a good one.

Feeling optimistic? Us too. Since outdoor eating and drinking opened up there’s been an amazing vibe around the city, and we can’t wait for more places to join them this month. So get out there, revisit old haunts and discover new places. Grab the faces you haven’t seen in a while and enjoy our incredible city.

Eat your tea inside

Alfresco is great but have you ever sat under a proper roof with five of your favourite people and eaten your tea without your coat on? All being well on the 17th we can do just that. There are chefs across the city with pent up culinary genius they want to share and favourite tables readying themselves for your return. So book up, show up, and eat up. We can’t wait.

Pubs, pubs, pubs…

The little cosy corners, the crinkled leathers seats, bar stools, proper pints, afternoon sessions and late nights. Proper indoor pubs, we’ve missed you. Want to try a new one? Forgotten which you used to love? Check out some of the pubs we’re itching to get back into.

Get Yourself A Ticket To The Outdoor Cinema at Bombed Out Church

THEY’RE BACK! The Independent Liverpool cinema shows have been in some iconic venues of the years and this summer we will be popping-up at Liverpool’s iconic Bombed Out Church for two screenings a day for two weeks. From 16th-29th August get ready for some classic cinema at one of Liverpool’s most beloved venues. 90’s classics, rom-coms and pure nostalgia – we’ve got two screenings of 14 different films to choose from. Most have sold out but there are some left – grab them here.

Get your skates on

Ready to let off some lockdown steam? You need the Rollerdrome at the Invisible Wind Factory. It’s going to be a unique immersive roller-skating experience with events for beginners, families and experienced skaters. The first season’s theme is an interplanetary disco with mirrored geometry, laser grids and a giant floating spaceship, creating an other-worldly experiential adventure in typical IWF style. Sounds like the totally bonkers fun we all need a bit of right now.

Watch Sport Outside At Fletcher’s Sports Bar

In May 2018 Fletcher’s Sports Bar opened its doors. The bar itself resides in the former home of the Fletcher family that built the Manor house in the 1800’s. When inside Fletcher’s, enjoy live sports on the multiple HD TV screens whilst exploring the extensive range of beers. Their brand new beer garden and outdoor seating area, with a capacity of 250, is the perfect space to enjoy this year’s summer of sport in a COVID safe environment as they are also bringing back our outdoor screen so you can enjoy everything from the Champions League to The British Open. Check out the new look Bluecoat

Bluecoat garden is one of our favourite city centre spaces but the inside of the oldest Grade 1 listed building in central Liverpool has had a massive transformation while the venue has been locked down. The brand new hub space and cafe is going to be a great new place to meet, grab a coffee, and check out art from the likes of Babak Ganjei, Sumuyya Khader and Harold Offeh.

See a film under the stars

Missed going to the cinema? At a secret outdoor location on the Liverpool waterfront you can enjoy an evening of movie magic, cold beers and fizz and some great food. Whether you want the time of your life with Baby and Johnny in Dirty Dancing, to come alive with Hugh Jackman as The Greatest Showman or to rock out to Queen with Bohemian Rhapsody, The Luna Cinema is presenting three nights of classic cinema under the stars. More here.

Explore LightNight

This is a culture crawl like no other. On May 21 LightNight will unlock the doors of our best-loved and lesser-known arts and cultural venues late into the night. It will be a mix of in-person and online events all around the theme of ‘play’. Expect big light projections, live music, workshops, walking tours, exhibitions and loads more.

Visit Liverpool’s New Outdoor Space

Backyard LA meets San Diego beer garden – slap-bang in the middle of The Ropewalks. But not so slap-bang in the middle you’d just stumble upon it. Backyard Liverpool is purposefully a little off-track, making a visit every much more worth seeking out. The demand for outdoor since the pandemic has grown exponentially and the city isn’t short of brilliant outdoor spaces – Backyard looks like another to add to the bucket list. More here.
