As the light nights creep in, it is almost time to pick some delicious fruit. When The Beatles sang “Strawberry Fields Forever”, they might not have had Claremont Farm in mind but they should have. Just over the water, Claremont Farm invite you down daily to pick your own strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and more. The perfect and most delicious way to spend an afternoon.
The Pick Your Own has been an annual event for all the family for over 40 years now. With several different varieties of strawberries you’ll never find at the supermarket, Claremont Farm guarantee you will find the juiciest, tastiest fruit around. And they don’t just grow strawberries. They have Raspberries, Tayberries, Red & Blackcurrants, Green, Red and Golden Gooseberries. And if all that fruit and open space isn’t enough, then on the weekends they offer a free tractor ride to the best picking spots!
The Pimbleys are a family of farmers, growing and selling their own fruit and vegetables here on the Wirral since 1906. They champion local produce by putting our favourites in the farm shop and they celebrate it during our much-loved food and drink festivals. They reconnect children with their food, how it’s grown and what it tastes like through their Welly Walks and they also open their fields for families to come pick their very own fruit. Now you can visit their new farm shop, butchers’ counter and cafe in the heart of the Wirral countryside to taste and experience everything Claremont Farm has to offer. It’s taken them 10 years to create the alternative shopping and eating destination you see today, a melting pot for local produce, seasonal foods and family activities.
You can pick fruit from Saturday 17th June onwards. Mon-Sun 10am-6pm. Opening hours are Mon-Sun 10am-6pm.Pick Your Own (PYO) is seasonal and usually runs from the end of June to the start of August. The PYO fields are situated just off the Drayton Motors roundabout by Clatterbridge Hospital. Just follow the PYO signs. Happy picking!
