We all love Liverpool but what does Liverpool love?

A question asked by Josh Boyd, Managing Director or Orb CIC and the inspiration behind the yearly summer festival currently entering it’s third year summer called Liverpool Loves. It’s back this weekend and better than ever! This little gem of a festival has taken place in 2015/ 2016 down on the waterfront – but this time around they’re heading city-central across a dual site between Chavasse Park (Liverpool ONE) and Derby Square (by the courts) on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August. The festival is on from 11am to 9pm on the Saturday and 11am to 7pm on the Sunday.

We’ve spent many an hour taking in loads of boss bands, browsing the myriad street food stalls and sinking one too many drinks at the festival bars. But that’s just us and it is so much more than that – because the event has a dynamic, unique programme of activities, family-friendly entertainment and loads to see and do! What’s more, it’s all for free – so get yourself into town this weekend and support your city. Here’s our pick of the 10 best bits from the festival:

The Music

Show us your best moves at the Liverpool Loves Main Stage – where SoulFest have put together a cracking line-up. Songs to ease the soul by wonderful up-and-comers including; Cherri V, HALEM, Milo Tain and DJ Niceness. The Guide Liverpool and The Rider Podcast have also curated other sections of the programme with some big-hitting local talent and there’s over 20 hours of live music on offer from 23 acts across the weekend.

The Cocktails

Sit back and enjoy a cocktail from The Boston Shakers, whether you’re a gin lover or mad about Mojitos, they have just the right bevvy for you. Top tip is go for the Strawberry Daiquiri!

The Circus Masterclasses

Have you ever spun poi or swung a staff? What about a levitation stick? Well dust off your juggling balls and get down to the On The Green Stage in Chavasse Park for a masterclass in all things circus by Bring the Fire Project.

The Sushi

This not-so-typical Castle Street restaurant has brought a casual Japanese dining style to Liverpool. If you’re wanting sushi with a scouse twist, then Izakaya are the guys for you! They’ll be trading in the Main Stage Zone alongside a raft of other festival favourites like Camp Halloumi, Cowfish BBQ and Eat Up Gud.

The Desserts

Got a sweet tooth? How about a taste of France by Minot Crepes, sizzling Spanish Churros or a big 99er from Snow White? Oh the calories!

Laughter Yoga

Side-splitting sessions by Jordan’s Laughter Yoga are next on the list. This isn’t your typical trip to the gym and it can offer a big mental boost and really work those core muscles. You’ll be skipping home in no time…

The Choir

Catch the Choir with no name at the Culturebox Stage; where this fun, friendly and vibrant community choir will definitely put a smile on your face. The Choir with No Name (CWNN) runs choirs with people who have experienced homelessness and those on the margins of society. Whether they have been homeless, have a mental health problem, are in recovery from addiction or are otherwise vulnerable and at risk, the choir gives them a safe, positive, and supportive environment in which to have fun and flourish as individuals.

The Samba Dancing

Try your hand at Samba Dancing with Viva Brasil and the Anahis. Whether you’ve got two left feet or Shakira’s snake hips, then this workshop is perfect for you. Failing that you could always just sit back in the sun and let Alandalus Flamenco show you their moves On The Green.

The Glitter Makeovers

Is it really a festival without any glitter? Pop over to Wish Upon A Sparkle’s stand for a big glitter makeover and get in the party spirit.

The Liverpool Loves Superstars

Watch the Liverpool Loves Superstars in action. Our guys and girls will have been training hard in; street dance, break dance and musical theatre in the lead up to the festival. We can’t wait for them to show us their stuff!
