The first of many jam-packed weeks of fun – all in the name of local.
Last week we announced the official opening date to Baltic Market – Liverpool’s first street food market based in the iconic Cains Brewery. The doors will open at 5pm on 30th June and from there we will be open Thursday-Sunday every week with special events mid-week. From farmers markets to cinema nights – we’ve lined up a special week from the second we cut the big red ribbon.
30th June / 1st July – Official Opening Party (Friday 5-11pm) (Saturday 11-11pm)
For the opening we’ve gathered some of the best street food traders, some old and some new, together for a foodies paradise. Come and take a bite of Liverpool and expect kati rolls and other Indian street food and from Timmy Tikka, XXX BBQ and smoked meats from Slim’s Pork Chop Express, wood-fired pizzas from Little Furnace Wood Fired Pizzas, shakes and cakes from The Midnight Delivery, falafel and shawarma wraps from Hafla Hafla, vegan Caribbean street food from ItalFresh, melt-in-the-mouth popcorn mussels and more from Oktopus and last but not least, delicious Asian street food from Pao.
All that food can be thirsty work so we’ve got a bar full of local Liverpool craft beer brewed just down the road from us. All our wine will be hand selected from R & H Fine Wines and we will be launching with a pretty special cocktail menu designed by some of the best bartenders in the city. Live music and DJs will be performing throughout and the drinks will be flowing so don’t shout at us if you end up dancing on the benches.
2nd July – Baltic Farmers Market (11am onwards)
We’ve brought together some of the best producers in Merseyside under one roof for an afternoon of sheer indulgence and boy, oh boy – what a lineup. Come and get your fresh meats from Lakeside Butchers, your coffee from Crosby Coffee, pies with a difference from Homebaked Anfield, all the cheese from Cheese & Co, local asparagus and strawberries from Claremont Farm, jams and chutneys from Grab Your Spoon, local honey from Postcode Honey, breads and takeaway picnics from East Avenue Bakehouse, life-altering bagels from The Bagelry, plant-based milk from Nuts About Milk, pastries galore from Artisane, silky gelato from P & D Deli, vegan and raw cakes from Studio Raw and lots more. It’s the Glasto of farmers markets. Doors open at 11, the market will go on until 3 and the remainder of the day will be our usual Baltic Market antics.
5th July – Cult Cinema Night – The Big Lebowski (7pm-10.30pm onwards)
Jeff Lebowski, who insists on being called “the Dude” is a laid-back, easygoing burnout who happens to have the same name as a millionaire whose wife owes a lot of dangerous people a whole bunch of money — resulting in the Dude having his rug soiled, sending him spiralling into the Los Angeles underworld. It’s an undeniable classic with quotes you could spend a whole day using so on the 5th of July we’re getting the big screen out, we’re knocking out some pretty mean White Russians and there’ll be some special themed grub on the night. Tickets are £8.50, grab them here.
6th July – Street Food Thursdays (5pm-11pm)
From 6th July onwards we’ll be open every Thursday-Sunday. Thursdays shall be known as “street food Thursdays” from now on. The idea is to savour the taste at all the stalls so expect smaller prices and some great drink prices to go alongside live DJs.
Address: Cains Brewery, Stanhope Street, L8 5XJ. Free entry – Open every Thursday-Sunday
Opening hours: Thursday and Friday 5-11pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am-11pm
